Rain totals were about what was expected with slightly over 1 inch of rain for most of the reporting stations in the foothills. It was a winter wonderland in the high Sierra with many reporting stations seeing 8 inches to about a foot of snow as of an hour ago. A great start to the snow season for sure. High pressure will be building in over the west this next week. That will ensure mostly fair skies and mild temperatures through much of the week. Extended forecast models are showing the first half of November will stay on the dry and mild side, turning stormier and colder as we head into the second half of the month. Of course, extended forecast models beyond 7 days are not very accurate, but it is interesting to look at anyway just for fun.
Look for a mostly sunny day Sunday with highs in the 50s. As mentioned, a fair weather pattern should then set in for next week with mostly sunny skies and mild fall temperatures, with highs in the 60s to low 70s. Lows tonight should be mostly in the 30s, then mostly 40’s for the remainder of the work week.
