53.9°F – ** Winter returns to Nevada County ** Our cold storm is on track to affect Nor Cal and the foothills, beginning during the day Friday lasting into Saturday. This is a colder storm than previous storms this season. We may even see thunderstorms on Saturday with the colder air moving in. Snow levels will start around 5000 ft lowering to 3500 ft by Saturday with flurries possible down to 3000 ft in some of the heavier convective cells.
Expect from a dusting to around 2 inches above 3000-3500 feet (Cascade Shores, Banner, Hwy 20 areas) on Saturday with 4-8 inches above 5500 ft. A foot of snow is possible over the ridgetops with this system with travel delays likely over the summit.
On the heels of the Friday-Saturday storm, we have another, even colder (inside slider type) system forecast to bring more light snow and rain to Nor Cal by Monday-Tuesday. Not a big storm, but it is cold. Snow levels should fall to 3000 ft or a little lower by Monday night -Tuesday morning. A dusting of snow is even possible in town by Tuesday. Stay tuned!
