79°F – High pressure to our south and west brought a couple of days of hot, dry weather to the foothills, which made a toasty end to the Nevada County Fair.
We reached a high of 96 degrees here at the Shores, but with very low humidity and dewpoints, the heat index made it feel several degrees cooler.
More tranquil weather is on tap over the next several days, with a gradual cooling trend as we head through the week.
Foothill Forecast: Sunny and hot Tuesday with temperatures cooling a couple of degrees. Tuesday’s highs ranging from 93-95°, for the Cascade Shores / Banner Mtn, 95-97° GV and NC areas, 96-99° LOP / Penn Valley areas. Expect night time lows mostly in the 60’s for the next several nights. Expect high temperatures to cool about 5-7 degrees this work week, so by the weekend we should see foothill temps in the mid 80’s to low 90’s.
You probably notice that the nighttime temps are a little cooler and more comfortable. Thanks to the clear, longer nights of mid-August with more radiational cooling. So, get out and enjoy the perfect late summer weather while it lasts!
