Cascade Shores / Nevada County Emergency Preparedness – List of Useful Websites
For any of us that live or travel to the beautiful Cascade Shores / Scotts Flat Lake areas, we know that life here is good. But life here can have it’s own challenges, fire season in the summertime (as in this last summer), and snow and cold in the wintertime.
Icy, slick roads, deep snow, downed trees and power lines. power outages, washed out roads and closures are just a few of the things we face up here at the Shores (& other parts of Nevada county) many a winter. Being that we live in a semi-rural community (7 miles from town), also living at the end of a road that can close in severe weather. It’s important we stay prepared for emergencies. We’ve all heard the advise, make sure our cars and homes are ready for severe winter weather (cars tuned up, good tires), and in the home, have extra food, clothing, blankets, lanterns, batteries, charged cell phone and with extra battery, firewood, etc.
Also getting to know your neighbors and one another is important in times of emergency.
With all this in mind, below is a list of websites that will help us keep better in touch with our local community, with one another and be prepared:
