** Increasing rain showers overnight with lowering snow levels overnight and Monday **
52°F – Light to moderate rain has been falling most of the day in the foothills. Locally, we’ve picked up over a half an inch of rain since this morning here in Cascade Shores. Rain will be on the increase overnight into Monday morning with the passage of the strong cold front. Expect moderate to heavy rain overnight into Monday morning with 1.25 to over 2 inches of rain possible in the foothills.
Snow levels are currently around 8,500 ft in the Sierra. That will come crashing down overnight, down to the 5,000 ft level sometime on Monday as well with Winter Storm Warnings in effect.
It’s advisable to stay out of the Sierra for the next couple of days, but if you do have to travel there, carry your chains of course and be prepared for hazardous road conditions and chain controls.
Rain will decrease during the day Monday with a slight chance of showers Monday evening. Highs Monday will be cold, only be in the upper 40’s to low 50’s. Look for partly to mostly sunny skies Tuesday-Saturday with highs in the 50’s to mid 60’s toward the end of the week with lows in the 30’s and 40’s. Another storm is forecast towards the end of next weekend but forecast models differ on trajectory and strength, It is currently forecast to stay to our north and give us cooler temperatures.
