** Heavy rain for Monday into Tuesday, then turning colder and snowy just in time for Christmas! **
36°F – 1.5 inches of snow Sunday in Cascade Shores. Outlook and Forecast: A cold storm brought rain and snow down to 2500 ft at times today to the foothills. In the upper foothills, above 3000 ft, light snow fell nearly all day, bringing light accumulations and slippery roads for a good part of the day.
Snow levels are slowly rising this evening and is currently around 3800-4000 ft. Expect snow levels to rise further as our next storm moves in overnight. This next storm is has a lots of sub-tropical moisture associated with it, combined with a strong jet stream aimed right at Nor Cal, the storm will slam into Nor Cal on Monday. It will bring, very heavy rain at times to the foothills with very heavy snow to the Sierra. Snow levels will eventually rise to 7000-7500 ft Monday night and Tuesday before lowering Late Tuesday night. Look for 3 to as much as 4 inches of rain here in the foothills out of this storm between now and Tuesday with well over 2 feet of new snow above 7000 ft in the Sierra, as forecast models currently have been trending stronger with this storm.
Tuesday and Wednesday look showery and unsettled. Wednesday night into Cristmas Eve, another much colder storm moves in. Forecast models are showing increasing confidence that the upper foothills will likely see a few inches of snow Wednesday night into Thursday with a dusting of snow possible below 3000 ft. So, for those that live in Cascade Shores, Banner Mtn and other upper foothill locations, it’s looking like you may well see a “White Christmas”. Of course, we’ll keep you posted on the latest details as far as a snowfall amounts.

Monday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 42 with breezy south winds.
Monday Night: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 41 with breezy south winds.
Tuesday and Tuesday Night: Showers continuing. High near 46 with a low around 35.
Wednesday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Snow level 3500-4000 ft, with a high near 40.
Wednesday Night: A chance of rain and snow, with a low around 32. Snow level 3500-4000 ft.
Thursday: Snow, with a high near 34. Snow level 2800-3300 ft.
Thursday Night; A chance of snow, with a low around 27.
Christmas Day: Partly cloudy with a slight chance of snow, with a high near 36.
