Foothill residents in western Nevada County should expect significant snow, especially above 2500 ft with 4-6 inches in the Grass Valley Nevada City areas, with 8-14 inches expected in the upper foothills between 3000-4000 ft. Snow levels could fall as low as 1500 ft by Sunday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning from 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM Monday…
* main impact… travel delays with chain controls and slick roads. Poor visibility due to snow and gusty winds will make travel hazardous.

* Timing… Saturday evening through Sunday, and into Monday.
* Locations… Interstate 80, Highway 50, and Highway 88.
* Snow accumulations… 8 to 14 inches above 3000 feet, 1 to 2 feet above 4000 feet. Up to 3 feet above 6000 feet near pass levels.
Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Strong winds re also possible. Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
